Inspire your young ones to learn about diverse cultures by joining our fun community reading challenge!
At Community Reads, we aim to create an opportunity for children to read about diverse cultures and identities and thereby instill in them a lifelong passion for learning about diversity and diverse people.
Community Reading Challenges
We provide links to suggested age-appropriate books on diversity. If children read 10 or more books that highlight a character with a diverse identity, they will receive a prize of a book.
How to Participate:
In order for the child to receive the prize, the parents must fill out a form that is linked at the bottom (rules included).
Prize Rules
To be eligible for a prize the form must be filled out in its entirety.
Each child is eligible for a maximum of one (1) prize per month.
Audio books do not count towards the 10 book total.
The books can either be read by the child themselves, or by a caretaker to the child.
Books that we read in our program will count towards the 10 book total.
You may not exchange/return prizes if you do not like them.
You must have a mailing address located in Maryland for us to send you a prize.
We are not responsible for damage or loss to prizes or delays and errors in shipping, and we may refuse service at our discretion. Rules may also change without prior notice.
The books must showcase human characters with diverse identities, which will be judged at our discretion.
We do not guarantee that every book on the suggestion links is eligible nor do we require that books come from these links.
Prizes will typically be shipped within 2 weeks after ordering, but we cannot guarantee a delivery date and shipping might be postponed due to unforeseen circumstances.
